Commemorative Events Marking the Restoration of Sovereignty over Radio and Television at the M’Sila Radio Station

M’sila/ Mr. Nadjmeddine Tayar, Wali of M’Sila Province, presided over the commemorative events marking the restoration of sovereignty over radio and television, held at the headquarters of M’Sila Radio Station. The event was attended by the President of the Provincial People’s Assembly, the Local Delegate of the Mediator of the Republic, the Head of M’Sila District, executive directors, the President of M’Sila Municipal People’s Assembly, the Director of M’Sila Radio, as well as executives, journalists and staff members of the station.

The ceremony took place in the station’s courtyard and began with the raising of the national flag and the playing of the national anthem.

Addressing the audience via the radio airwaves, the Wali recalled that on 28 October 1962, radio and television journalists, technicians and workers decided to reclaim sovereignty over two major media outlets that had been under French control. This date marked a decisive turning point in the history of independent Algeria, as the first generation of media professionals and technicians demonstrated the standing of independent Algeria and its people’s ability to rise to the challenge and ensure the continuity of radio and television broadcasting.

He emphasized that this historic achievement ensured that the voice and image of a free, independent, proud and visible Algeria would continue to reach the public. It also laid the foundations for national media capable of accompanying the country’s political, economic and social transformations and faithfully and impartially reflecting the will of the Algerian people, particularly in this era of a New Victorious Algeria, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Wali paid tribute to all staff members for their ongoing efforts to uphold the objectives of the media mission. He renewed his congratulations and wished them further success in their radio and television work, as well as in providing local communication support for development activities.
